I know someone this happened to rw computer virus scam and they aren’t stupid. But obviously rushed into the scam and gave away some money. Then they have control of your computer, too. I think it was even their bank who caught it.

He said he filed a claim with his home owners insurance. I mean, he's about as stupid as she is if that's true (it's not).

Another lie as well. Maybe his "FBI agent" friend his hates him and lied to him.

Another thread being made about the original thread of scammers?
The original may be the biggest Troll thread in recent years because it got a 2nd thread by someone else.
Level 5 Troll.

Even better... it's making appearances in other threads this evening, too!
I cannot say I was not entertained!

One of these days I'm gonna come up with a good one... right now all I can accomplish is secondary troll posts.

Your homeowners policy covers identity theft costs. They had our SSN., Address, places we work etc.
You might want to actually do some research before you call someone stupid.

They stole your identity, too?
Or just had the same information leaked by the government and umpteen thousand businesses and services?

What does that have to do with your wife withdrawing $17k? Your identity wasn't stolen, they ran you on LexisNexis, Intelius, or some other people search.

My mom's accounts all have limits unless I approve.

Why'd your wife go to two different banks?

Reason for both is most likely that currency transaction reporting requirement kicks in at $10k.

So she's so stupid that she falls for that scam, but also it's smart enough to know when it triggers a reporting number?

I’m not entirely sure she’s as dumb as she is scared about some truth coming out. Good luck with that Grasshopper. Irregardless, I’d guess the scammers instructed her so it was more likely they’d get paid.

Or how to get off the list?
Change your number, never answer a call from a number you don't know, and don't set up a voicemail.
Your goal is to make the number appear as if it isn't active.
