chuck fought before making movies
As we've seen, Chuck would get his arse beat if he was in the fighting game today (assuming he is in his prime and not an old fart). His ground game and take down defense probably sucks and he would get rag dolled like Conor did vs Khabib.

A “friend” had to body guard Ashida Kim at one of his own seminars. Lmao with him. He couldn’t believe I knew who the guy was.

Kyokushin dudes are tough. Met a couple of bad dudes out of Isshin-ryu as well. Seems like you need to have not too many generations of white folk between you and your Japanese teacher for karate to be useful.

Jet Li did a great movie with many different kung fu styles called "Shao Lin Temple."

IIRC he was Chinese champion of some sort

Were most of them chumps? Probably. We'll never know, but it was known, and is still respected and talked about today by MMA fighters, that his skill was legit. He was not a pussy actor pretending to be a fighter.

So skilled, but not a single sanctioned fight. Unlike Chuck Norris who actually competed professionally, Lee was just a poser.

It’s the style of karate and lineage

For instance in the older days

You learned to block before you threw a punch

Seagal was an Akido guy and when he was in his prime he was pretty good.

He was the first foreigner that was allowed to teach in a training facility in Japan. For a time he was the only American that was allowed to confer the highest dan (rank). So there’s that.

He’s certainly gotten a little weird in his later years...

...and fat.

Muhammad Ali and I'm not even kidding.

Re Seagal. I've told this story before. A childhood friend is a lawyer in Los Angeles and knows Seagal and Jackson Browne through business. Those two also know each other-Browne had at one time given Seagal a guitar as a token of their friendship.

My buddy is talking to Seagal and mentions a party Jackson Browne is giving. It turns out Seagal wasn't invited, and it was like in Seinfeld when Crazy Joe Davola learns he isn't invited to Kramer's party. My buddy later found out Seagal sent the guitar back.
