Hope everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed this AM.
On Friday we were talking about DST and my kid had what I thought was a great idea, "Dad, the time change should be on Friday night so we could have an extra day to adjust to the new time...."
Not bad kid, not bad.

And people would miss the start of a game
instead of arriving late for the sermon.

People living in Arizona wondering what the phuck is DST?
Posted on 3/8/26 at 9:22 am to Lonnie Utah
Smart kids! I’m with them 100%.
I guess it does start on Sunday though because technicallly it’s the beginning of the week?
Let’s keep DST forever- dark at 5:15 in the evening SUCKS!

Oh so you are one of those guys? Only a few of you left with this close minded thinking -it is not currently dark in Utah if that’s where you are

Sleep later- problem solved lol
Posted on 3/8/26 at 9:28 am to Spocks Brain
No. I'm one of those guys that only sleeps a 5-6 hours a night anyway so I'm not so fragile that losing an hour of sleep is going to impact my life in any meaningful way.

Most people have day jobs?
Being woken from a dead sleep in pitch black by your alarm, getting ready and then driving to work while it’s still pitch black sucks.
Now, I appreciate that there are people who start work so early that they will be in the dark anyway. And I appreciate that some people work late and will be in the light anyway. But the overwhelmingly majority of the population wakes up during the period that would suck balls during winter if we went permanent DST.

If you are “only” driving in the dark to go sit in an office while the sun rises why on earth does that matter? If you work outside and can’t start your day til first light and get affected by the elements I can understand that argument

We tried full time DST for a year in the 70s. People hated it so bad, congress voted back to switching clocks post haste...
Fwiw, i haven't used an alarm clock in years. 99% of the time I'm the first person in the office when I walk in the doors at 6am...

Really- I was born in 78 so was not aware. I will look into it and report back. I believe an overwhelming amount of people prefer DST at this point though. Times have changed, no pun intended

So it’s dark for you when going to work whether the time changes or not?
LMAO. . Come join the light side, it’s bright and sunny over here
Also my bias likely stems from where I’m located in Austin, Tx- I believe this is the sweet spot for the time change and we get the best of both worlds

Never. If we're going to go to full time clocks, Std time is the only way to make it work. It's simple geography.
That being said. Changing clock 1 hour 2x a year isn't that inconvenient. Fwiw, for me personally, the fall time change is worse. (We gain an hour but my biological clock continues to wake me up 1 hour earlier. )
