Met my girlfriend on Match.com. Been together for a year and a half now.

And the people who say there's nothing but fat chicks and ugly chicks on online dating sites, are probably the guys who never get a return message from the hot chicks. Because there are more than a few of hot arse chicks on those sites.

My friend met her fiance on OKCupid. I was surprised that they are a good match. However, participating in online dating in a major city is much different than some place like BR. I find that people in NYC are really too busy to cut through the BS out there when they are looking for something serious. People that want a serious relationship want to shortcut the step of finding out the other's general background.

FWIW, my friend is a Yale grad that is finishing up her residency in Ped Oncology and her fiance is an investment banker that went to Emory.

After browsing this thread yesterday I decided to take Paige's advice and join match.com. Imtgis morning I've got emails from 14 different women and I lost count of how many "winks".
It's like an online cornucopia of women that want to talk to me. And yes some of them are "curvy" or "big and beautiful" but some are good looking too. I wish I had done this a long time ago. Thanks

ISnt meeting women in big cities a lot easier?

I've found it more difficult. When I was living in Chicago, sure you met tons of girls. But nobody really knows each other. Girls I met had some major skeletons in the closet (boyfriends, bat shite crazy, had kids when they were in high school, etc.) and obviously I didn't know this because none of the friends in my group knew anything about said girl.

It was also a meat market and an "arms race". Girls would date, but always be looking for the next "step up". They want to date the guy that lived in this part of town, had a better (higher paying job), etc.

I lived in Lake View (Wrigleyville area) and I'd date some girls for a little while, but they'd always be looking for that guy who lived in the Lincoln Park, Near North side area. I was dating a girl who happened to be dating her boss (late 40's, short and fat balding guy). I eventually knew she would go for him (and she did) when I found out he lived in Winnetka. A big city is very difficult.

I met my fiance on plentyoffish.com. we dated for 2 years, and have been engaged for several months. Wedding is in April.

There are definitely a lot of uggos and fat chicks on these sites, but there are also plenty of hot-arse chicks.

I dated a hot asian I met on match before meeting my fiance. But I also met up with a few chicks who were very good and the angle shots for their profile pics haha

I agree completely. Its easy to meet bar-sluts, but finding wife material in a big city where you know only a few people is quite difficult.

This is the perfect explanation about dating in a big city. The converse is also true. There are a ton of single women in big cities and guys are also going for the younger faster model. I think online dating in big cities allows people (at least the majority of them) who are sick of the "arms race" to find each other. I met my my wife online. She is tall slender and very attractive. She comes from a great family and is very close to them. She is also finishing her residency in surgery and will start her fellowship in July at one of the top hospitals in the country. I couldn't do better if I tried, online or not.
