I was a 5 star athlete and couldn’t go to A&M bc I don’t like dudes lol

I’m spacing on the name but Southern Miss ended up with a 5* WR back around the Larry Fedora days in part because he was such an academic risk IIRC.
Deandre Brown? He never struck me as a moron. Deandre probably has at least 30 IQ points on that guy from State who bragged about beating up the Tulsa player.

suspect but do not know that LSU allows premier athletes in if they meet the NCAA requirements even though they do not meet typical LSU requirements.
Is there equality in that???
Do non-premier athletes generate millions of dollars of revenue for the school?

Name one premier recruit--5 star--denied admissions to a SEC school because of academics.
Do you know how the recruiting rankings even work? They are evaluated at camps, etc so they have to take the initiative to attend these camps. In other words, there are kids out there that would probably be 5...or 4 star talent that isn't even on the radar because they rather frick off.
Its nothing like it used to be in the 1990s and before when their were CFB players who couldn't even read.

No and I do not deny that nor do I even care that the standards are not equal.
I merely point out that those that are obviously the benefactors and profiteers of this special treatment should not lecture the rest of us on the need for equal treatment.

most schools just need athletes to meet ncaa minimum. they aren't held to competitive admission standards.
the hardest school to qualify for scholarship athletes is stanford. 3.0 gpa with a 24 act, 3.5 with a 21 act, etc.
the only other school ive heard that had somewhat tougher standards than the ncaa minimum is duke.
even great universities like nd, ucla, cal, michigan, gt, etc all take the minimum for their scholarship athletes. they may have to meet state prep curriculum requirements and/or actually earn their grades at certain places.

and those criteria are less than the stated criteria for new students at every SEC school

kids can get into some sec schools with those criteria, but it certainly isn't competitive.
neighbors kid got into lsu as a chemeng major, 4.0 28 act. was stuck with some dumbass sociology major for a roommate who got accepted because of "hardship, skin color, quota, shite major, blahblahblah".

ACT scores don't matter at flagship universities if you're really good at sports.

Hell, you can beat dogs hard enough to make them blind to where the LSU vet school has to amputate their broken legs, and still stay in good standing. Assault the girl that reported you and you're still good so long as the media doesn't find out.
DG or DD?

I don’t necessarily agree with their stance but arguing equality based on merit versus equality under the law are two totally different things.
Trying to compare the two is simplistic thinking.

It’s all malarkey man! I’m watichung the OSU/Clemson game and noticed that OSU all have “equality” bumpers on the backs of their helmets. The irony of it is that out of the 22 players on the field, 20 are black. I mean when is that going to Be equal? We need more black coaches more black this more black that. Ok. I’m agreeing. The nba, nfl, nhl, pga and nascar all need to have equal everything. Put your money where you’re mouth is.

I am not aware of any inequalities "under the law".
Simplistic thinking is ignoring the huge privileges college athletes receive while lecturing people on some vague idea of ending inequality. What the hell do they want???

Like I said, I don’t necessarily agree with their stance but your criticism isn’t even in the same ballpark.

I am just trying to understand why my pointing out the hypocrisy of these privledged players and these privileged profiteers at ESPN talking about equity--whatever that is---is wrong.

Was it Noel Divine (WVU) that was a highly rated recruit but wasn’t going to qualify anywhere but then suddenly got into WVU or I’m I getting that mixed up?
Posted on 1/1/21 at 10:45 pm to JDGTiger
I would bet $10,000 of cold hard cash, that a 160 pound white dude that could run a legit 4.4 would not get a scholarship.
Could walk on but that’s the only shot.
