mean, people that can't get enough food to eat are miserable. People that are kept captive and forced into labor are miserable.
Check out Victor Frankel‘s book, “man’s search for meaning“. He depicts life in a Nazi concentration camp and how they still found happiness in the most dire of situations.
Why are some people more naturally happier than others? As shown in this thread some are oblivious to the possibility of discontent. Maybe they haven’t hit that point in their life, or as some suggest, some of us are more emotionally receptive. Artist are the perfect example, they live and die by their emotions, bringing them great creation, and great pain resulting in their downfall.

quote:this is why mindfulness is important, I also like the term Emotional Agility. One of the problems with mindlessness is that it makes us emotionally rigid, and we get hooked on certain negative thoughts and beliefs about our self, and those thoughts permeate all our perceptions, and breed self unacceptance.
Values evolve though.
I am very much relate to the teachings of Buddhism, attachments, suffering, the ego, but hard to find the gap between actual life. Isn’t the desire of non-attachment just another attachment?

Nope, that's bullshite.
Only programming going on is what you tell yourself you are and what the world is. The brain has no choice but to believe exactly what you want it to believe.

I have been programmed from the beginning to love God and trust Him and seek Him and put Him first in my life.
It’s when I fall away from that and try to do life on my own....that I’m the most unhappy.
