re: Haven't drank for 7 days

Thankfully I've never had the urge to drink as a response to anything or drink daily. My problem is with binge drinking when I'm having a good time (cutting myself off) and perhaps some compulsion to drink for certain events/times (Friday afternoons, sports watching). But even without any real dependency struggles, it's caused damage in my own life at times, and it's probably only chance/blessing that I can go long stretches without drinking in order to "reset" and avoid issues.
Good for you for taking on this issue. It sounds like you're taking the only healthy option available to you.

I have more AA people's phone numbers in my phone than my friends

I understand your plight. I've quit for 60 days once, and then 53 days once and 39 days once. That's the longest I've ever been able to do before the demons find a way to get me back. It's a terrible thing. I'm praying for you. Maybe we can go down this road together...

This is what I'm afraid of. Not one day has gone by where I haven't wanted to just have that famous "one" drink. Just one, and I'll be good. I'm battling it, now. I have all afternoon off, and I wouldn't mind a little drink. To celebrate one week? Lol damn, man.

It's hard to figure out if you have a "problem" or not sometimes. I have around 2 or 3 drinks/beers most days. I can go days without drinking, but not often. I don't consider myself an alcoholic because I don't get shitfaced on a regular basis - but I drink to take the edge off in the evenings. Anyone else do this?

That'd be nice. Really odd to find myself consumed by something so simple. Yet, maybe I'm more simple than I'd like to believe.

I don't have a lot of time to write a long insightful post but I've been sober for 3+ years. I went to rehab 3 times and was drinking up to a fifth a day. My life and relationships have become exponentially better and on much more solid footing since I've quit. I was a hopeless drunk that just couldn't stop for over 30 days no matter how much I wanted to and tried to stop.
You can quit. You'll be glad you did and so will everyone that loves you.

See, that's the thing...Maybe I just need to eat a little cleaner, and work out a little harder. I love to drink, but I like to creep on the line of drunkenness. I'm not a fan of blacking out, never understood that one.

The only one who can admit you have a problem is you. If you want help, there are resources out there. I know AA has helped a lot of people. There are other outlets as well.
A while back I noticed I was drinking more than I should, so I stopped having that nightly drink that turned into a couple bottles. Now I drink a bit less.
It’s all about self discipline.

Whenever I drink I get reminded of how shitty I am when I drink. Not really the type of man I want to be. Focus on the positives.

No one can tell you that you're an alcoholic, but an alcoholic cannot do this. I tried the same thing, but I ended up back where I started every time

Check out a meeting. Worst case scenario, you waste an hour of your day

Wow. That's clever. You should put that on a T shirt or something.

You need to start going to AA meetings. AA saved my life and it can do the same for you.

You ever been to an AA meeting?

This is what I would really like to achieve. I think you helped me realize, for the better, that alcohol truly isn't my problem. Just what I run to when I don't care to face them. Not a fan of this person I've become. I use to be strong, so I thought.
