At midnight they will put the dreaded mask on you and you will instantly fall asleep. They will wake you up in what feels like five minutes later, but in reality it will be 6:00 in the morning. At that point you will realize that you haven’t had a good nights sleep in a long time.

This, this, this.

I snored for 20 years after having sinus surgery along with nose reconstruction after being hit with a baseball my senior year of high school. The morning I left the sleep clinic I was bewildered at how much I could breathe after four hours under the mask. They showed me the results of my study a couple of weeks later and I purchased the CPAP immediately thereafter.

I hardly ever don’t sleep without it two years later. I fall asleep within ten minutes of putting my mask on each night and get at least six quality hours of sleep a night. I wake up feeling like a gold tooth now, unlike the sluggish feelings of yesteryears. Quality sleep is paramount once you’ve had it.

Tumescence will be measured several times.

It’s the key to it all.

I have had one for 10 years or so and my experience is similar to this.
I did not want to do the study but had a-fib & doc recommended it.
Wife does not like the CPAP cause it makes noise; especially when you go into deep sleep.

It’s a life changer, Walt.

Hangovers don’t hurt like they used to. Recovery is almost non-existent due to the increased oxygen supply your body gets from the CPAP.

Physiologically you need oxygen to establish cyclic erections which are a marker of cardiovascular health. Prognostically, men who cycle though 3 or more fully tumescent erections per night with 55 or more psi as measured by Johnson’s Tumescence Monitor while sleeping will have predicted actuarial survivals into their 90s as compared to men who cannot generate full erections with adequate pressure measurements who often die before 70. The Johnson TM consists of a cuff place around the penis which is attached to a pressure monitor that measures these events. Some clinics also provide an anal probe for men whose pressures do not meet initial minimal goals. This probe generates electrical impulse and physical stimulation of the prostate so the pressure is able to rise to a level where an assessment can be made.

In general, you have to ask for this technique as some clinics are reluctant to place the probes, but if you really want to get a full evaluation, it is essential to add the probe.

How did we get from a sleeping mask to an anal probe?

How does it feel, asking for a friend.

You have sleep apnea and you will be buying a $800 CPAP machine.

Seriously those places exist solely to sell CPAPs. No one leaves without one.

You do understand, that a doctor doesn't schedule a sleep study for a patient unless he's fairly sure his patient has sleep apnea, right?

If you need a sleep study, you probably don't exercise.

Would it surprise you to know, that most college and NFL linemen on on CPAP? I guess they don't exercise either. Reggie White wasn't on CPAP. Guess what they said contributed to his death?

WTF? How overweight and out of shape do you have to be to have a HR of 100 while you sleep.

If your HR is 100 while you sleep you have serious health concerns that will not be fixed by a CPAP.
