I'd choose homeless because I think I could eventually find the right benefits, etc to get back on my feet. It wouldn't be a walk in the park tho. I have zero street smarts and I've seen many of bum take an arse whooping for standing on the wrong corner.
Prison just gives you zero hope for anything. I still think you'd take less bumps and bruises tho than on the streets. You'd just have to be one of those real religious types and a loner for 10 years and prob wouldn't get messed with much.

I watched two "hoemless" people that I see everyday on my way home from work get dropped off in a Lexus GX470 one time last week. In their defense, it looked to be around a 2005 model, so I can understand why they're begging.

Do you really think someone gives the homeless money at every red light

?A 2008 report stated that some Oregon beggars outside a Wal Mart make $100k per year / $300 per day.

Overall, I would say that a reasonable estimate for how much can be made in begging / panhandling is $15 per hour, which is about $30,000 per year and more than graduate students in my engineering department make.

Have been both and I'll take homeless all day, no prison politics to play makes this an easy choice.

You should see the act the girl puts on. She goes out of her way to look like she's crying all the time. It's hilarious because she's an in shape blonde, and it's clear as day to anyone paying attention she isn't homeless. She always has different clothes, never looks particularly dirty, etc. I'll never understand why you'd choose to do that when you obviously come from some form of privilege (yep, I went there
)

Homeless at least you still have freedom of movement and less chance of being arse pummeled.

If you don't have an addiction and you don't have a mental illness, you won't be homeless for more than a week. If you are reasonably social and of at least average intelligence, you won't be homeless more than a day.
If you have an addiction, you won't be homeless more than a couple of weeks, IF YOU WANT AND ACCEPT HELP.

Homeless. I think if I was homeless i could work my way out of that situation. In jail that wouldn't be an option.

Homeless. I don't want to routinely get butt raped

Homeless. I don't like to be confined to a certain space. I can roam and use street smarts being homeless.

What kind of homeless?
I would take the "homeless", on govt assistance, govt phone, got my purchase card, not really homeless homeless over jail

Homeless. Losing your freedom is a horrible thing.

When I told me wife about it, she goes "are you sure she isn't a beggar/prostitute?"

Homeless. I can fix homeless. Besides, the beach bums seem to not have it that bad in CA.

If you make 50 cents a red light and there's a red light every 2.5 minutes. $12/hour. Not bad imo.
ETA- Homeless 100%. AND it's untaxable so $12/hour is really $15.60/hour
This. I often drove downtown to my job as a student knowing I could make more money if I stood at the red light and begged.

I've been both. I didn't tell my family or friends because I was too embarrassed. I've also been accused and locked up not only for something I didn't do but something that never happened. I'll take homeless. It is no walk in the park. It's about survival. You only sleep when you're exhausted. You're never comfortable.
