I didn't request a ring of any kind dummy. And for the record my 'pretentious' self rarely wore it and only wore my wedding band which was a 1.5 carat eternity band which he bought with his money. Now suck it.

How could the proposal be a surprise if you knew it was going to happen soon? Surely it was in your mind any time you two went on vacation, or out to dinner at a nice restaurant.
This is what I don't get..it's like women these days have the mindset of "you should spend $xx000 on me, and I'm going to be damn picky about what you give me"
It has completely taken all the fun out of it.
