But, I thought it was a chance the whole island could have been washed away

I was surprised so many were still standing
Still an extraordinary amount of damage

Track shifted a little closer to SC and lower NC coasts since last track.

And to think up until 30 min ago this very thread was still calling this a major hurricane, needlessly worrying east coast posters.

great abaco, aerial footage

Other than the cart barn, the golf course looked to be in good shape.

Looks just like Mexico beach last year.

Probably gonna be ‘cart path only’ for awhile

Wow. I don't see a single structure not destroyed.

90% of the Island looks like it went under water. There was a yacht lying in the middle of what looks like the high ground. Good news is that the golf course looks like it might be playable.

CNN is predicting that Mississippi State and Ole Miss sweep Alabama and Auburn.

There may be a few additional obstacles on the course, making it a pleasant mix of golf and putt putt.

I’m sure all that saltwater on the greens is going to help

Yep, I’m alive. Made it to Nassau. #Hurricane #DORIAN: By far the most intense cyclone I’ve witnessed in 28 years of chasing. Thought I was playing it safe by riding it out in a solid-concrete school on a hill in Marsh Harbour. Thought wrong.

Chilling that there were no people in any of the CNN video. Would think people would head out of the houses into the street when hearing it. Hopefully they are just too shellshocked to respond...

Also the grass on the golf course may still look green, but the trees surrounding it look worse than the ones in City Park after Katrina. Wind has stripped them bare of anything but major limbs.

I’m curious to see if there are reports of looters and other tomfoolery in the coming days. It is my hope there is no such behavior and something all Americans can learn from this disaster.

In all honesty they should drop the hurricane warning for Florida. Keep it as a Tropical Storm warning

I reverse evacuated. Left Amelia Island yesterday then came back today when I saw the state of this storm this morning. This isn’t a big deal for us now.

Palm Beach is ground zero for the looters. Those residents are dangerous.

Its one step above Fischer Island. There are bicycles all over that place with people just milling about.
