Twitter video
All the water in the inlet between Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms in Charleston has been pushed out.
Is this negative storm surge?

Irma did the same thing to Tampa Bay

It does appear they aren’t as heavy, but any amount at this point is not great.

WIS just showed the graphic at 7, GFS had us at 2.98
May be wrong obviously, but that's what they said...

That's the best thing of any yet. He needs to save the drama for his mama and just report the facts.

Does this slow crawl at this point mean the storm is going to lose more steam that originally thought?
It's all track. Wind coming off the ocean is crushing places with flooding and heavy rain.
To the south, there is rain but it's not as heavy and is being helped to drain out by the wind. If the center stays north of Columbia, the rain may not be epic. It's got a long way to go and still deep for an inland TS. It's going to take days to wind down this energy.

Thanks Duke, appreciate your insight.

They may be waiting to verify it, but it's not alone. This temporary gauge is a few dozen miles to the SW.
I was going to say that's not rain, that's more like standing under a faucet.
Except I'm not sure my damn bathtub could fill that fast.

Heard from a friend who lives in Morehead City that the roof of the animal shelter had collapsed. Cajun Navy comes to the rescue!

There's never much, if anything, to laugh about in these kinds of Mother Nature Pound-a-ramas, but that video got a genuine LOL out of me.
Good luck out there.

No rain yet where I am just south of Charleston.

Florence is taking 378 from Myrtle Beach through Sumter to Cola then taking I-26 to Greenville.
One thing in Cola's favor is that it might just skirt to the north which would put Cola on the "better" side of the storm.

Been quiet here in North Myrtle for the past 90 minutes. Lost power around 5pm.
