Ascension parish donations can be dropped off at the Lamar Dixon expo center from 9 am - 4 pm daily. They are accepting basically everything EXCEPT clothes

Awesome thread. I want to ask you to do something. Go in to your original post and type in the information that is contained in the image file you included, and then remove the image file and put something else in, maybe an image of the devastation. I want to post a link to this in Facebook, as everyone should (the link is at the bottom right of your post), but that image comes up and it is confusing to someone looking at it the first time without reading the post above it.

Thanks!

Sounds like they are getting so many requests for rescue that they aren't taking any more requests today, they're trying to get through what they have on the board. Damn. shite is crazy. And they might have to leave Houston and come back home for rescues in a day or two...

ETA: They are telling people if it's urgent, contact DPS.

Might be some duplicates here but here is a NOLA.com article listing ways NOLA locals can help.

Cajun Navy Dispatch reporting a curfew at 5:00 or 5:30 where no more boats will be allowed in.

I don't know if we are posting school closures in here, but St. Georges in New Orleans just shut down for tomorrow.

I can't believe they are shooting at rescuers.

From Cajun Navy FB page:

Clyde and the other team members and teams are all safe. Looters decided to pose as people needing rescue and they attempted to overtake the boats and there were shots fired at the boats. I repeat they are all safe. Looters must have not wanted our boats in the water for rescues. Please feel free to share this post. We are currently on stand down pending a new strategic plan.
