Where are you going to launch your extremely long range helicopters that don't currently exist from? In addition every place close that can provide support is probably damaged.
Aircraft carriers...

USAF is evacuating US citizens via C-130's and carnival cruise line is evacing people as well. I had two friends get out yesterday. Tell them to get out now. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
What sort of presence, if any, do the Dutch/French militaries have in a place like that?

St Martins current situation is why citizens should be allowed to own AR 15s. The government cannot always protect you and maintain order

Puerto Rico is less than 200 miles away. But, they have been using C-130's for 3 days now.
Like I said earlier, I had 2 friends yesterday get out. They were getting worried and they are both ex marines. Anyone that knows someone on that island needs to tell them to go to the airport or the dock where carnival cruise lines dock.

The French military already surrendered to the looters

Dutch side is doing a better job. The French have totally dropped the ball. Not sure on what either side has for military at the moment.

My brother is a lineman and I worry silly about him. Don't think he's been sent that way however. Prayers for the safety of all.

The US Navy has a relief vessel that can launch helicopters already in the area... but I believe they were (naturally) focusing on the US Virgin Islands.
Both France and the Netherlands have other territories close to St. Martin.

The one that left at 1700 for curaçao? That's the one they got on.
Also USAF is evacing only American citizens and the old or hurt get priority.

This is why our government has paratroopers. They could be there in a few hours and are completely self sustaining for a while. No runway needed. They would get this straight in no time.
I wonder how the French and Dutch would feel about that. After all, St Martin and Sint Maarten belong to them.

Logistics and backup would be a bitch.
Too risky for this veteran.

It takes a while to get them big bitches traveling.
Add to that we have more important missions for our ships ATM too.

Aren't the dutch and French part of Nato?
If the US asks to provide support and military might on our dime, they will more than likely accept it.
You can park a carrier near the islands and have that uprising dealt with in less than 48 hours if it really came down to that.
US is doing the right thing currently. Providing safe passage off of foreign soil to actual US citizens.
Everything else is secondary.

Risk, nothing certain. It's above my pay grade to suggest just where these will pop up. Just worth being aware of as all this energy spins out.
Understood and appreciated.
And for the downvoter, we've been getting near constant warnings about being under a tropical storm warning that also state, very explicitly, that the risk of tornadoes (in our area, anyway) is nearly non-existent. Hence my question.

Just got internet. Trees down everywhere. They took a lot of power lines with them. There is no electricity, we still have running water. My house took no damage to the house my trees took an arse kicking. No trees down in my yard but a lot of other neighbors do have
substantial tree damage.

LINK ]France imposes Whites Only Evacuation Order for those on Saint Martin
"Airports allegedly restricted access to people of color, while the local channel Guadeloupe were reported that a boat, Archipel 1, evacuated about 300 white tourists, mostly from the United States, from Saint Martin to Guadeloupe, with “only three black people on board,” according to a witness. The boat's captain told the channel that he had been ordered to do so by local authorities — but they later denied the claim."
On St Martin, the regional police chief said a gang of 600 'local delinquents' was responsible for the trouble
