yeah i for sure didn't get this (and put it in OP)

this is an issue that's been referenced throughout human history

Atlantic article

quote:

These descriptions have been especially bountiful in literature and art. In Herman Melville’s 1851 novel Moby Dick, for example, Ishmael, the narrator, awakens to find himself unable to move and horrified to find that a “supernatural hand” appeared to be placed in his own:

Another classic portrayal—and the illustration accompanies almost every article on sleep paralysis—is Henri Fuseli’s The Nightmare, a 1781 painting that depicts a woman lying on her back with a demon on her chest and a ghoulish mare lurking background. Pressure on the chest and the sense of being watched are common characteristics of sleep paralysis.

Happened to me once about a month ago. I was sleeping at this girls house that I’ve been seeing, no pics, and it felt like I was waking up from a nap. I looked down the hall and could see her and her roommate talking, then all of a sudden the bed sunk down by my feet like something heavy had sat down but I didn’t see anything. Then It got up and I could see a big shadow run across the room and jump through the window. I could hear it run across the room too, the house is off the ground. I started screaming and woke myself up. The scream was just a faint moan in real life but it was enough that I heard it just as I woke up. The girl I was sleeping with woke up at the same time as me. She said she had a bad dream. It was very sketchy.

I said I was curious. I understand the biological stuff and I'm just interested in these stories. I mean, when people start seeing some of these shadows, I wonder what they are.

Eta: I want to hear about these stories from both christians and non-christians.

There is a more interesting discussion to be had regarding base consciousness (waking reality) only representing a small portion of what we can perceive. These other arenas can be entered during sleep, altered states (folks taking DMT often communicate with other beings), and when we die...

The brain be can be viewed as a prison for consciousness that we can escape at times...

Consciousness, soul, spirit is eternal

Same as ghosts... a figment of your fricking imagination. Supernatural mumbo jumbo isn't real. It's all just irrational fear leaking from your vagina.

It had the shape of a woman

Succubus.

quote:

Some experts argue that what humans perceive as an experience with a sexual demon is actually part of sleep paralysis. The inability to move and the sensation of being touched often go hand in hand. However, more and more people are claiming that their experiences with succubi and/or incubi are real. One man writing about his experience even mentions a feeling of paralysis all over his body. He attributes it to the succubus that was hovering over him. She began kissing and fondling him. He wrote that, while he definitely enjoyed what she was doing, he remained terrified. He was completely in her grip and could not move. Their sexual encounter continued, and he became rapt with ecstasies he'd never imagined. When it was over, she continued to hover over him, smiling. She asked him if he knew what succubi do and what they are for. Before he could reply, her face turned demonic red and her beautiful teeth became fangs. She laughingly told him that succubi take the souls of their victims and that he would be dead within three days. Then she disappeared. Apparently the man survived at least long enough to write of his encounter and post it online.
