Not all properties hit the MLS. Having a good network of other real estate professionals can be beneficial in a competitive market. A good realtor gets into houses before they hit the Internet.

They are about as sleazy as any other sales person.

The last realtor we talk to about listing our house wanted us to list it about 30 % less than a neighboring house that was smaller and not nearly as nice to create a "bidding war". I thought that was pretty sleazy in my opinion.

Sales in general incentivizes certain behaviors that non-sales people find gross. I generally default to "they're lying to me" position until I can confirm otherwise.

Then you have dealt with order takers and not real consultative sales people.

I've been doing this for more than 20 years in both B2C and B2B sales. Real sales people know that lying to a prospect or customer is a permanent kiss of death; you can NEVER get your credibility back if you're caught. Always better to say, "I don't know, but I'll find out and get back to you."

A real sales professional (and yes, I consider myself a professional) take the time to get to know his prospect and their goals. He then tailors his solution to directly fit their goals. I want a relationship with my customers where we both are happy with the deal; I'm happy with the revenue (and commissions) earned, and they're happy with the value they received for the price they paid.

Got home appraised and sold for appraised value.

This is great. Imagine relying on an appraisal to establish value IN ANY market. You left money on the table most likely. But if you feel good about it......

Stupidest concept ever....talk to realtor who talks to another realtor who talks to the seller/buyer...then they take your money for being a medium for communication. frick these people

I'm relatively new to the real estate industry so my knowledge regarding other realtors in the business is still limited, but I do agree with you that there are obviously some dirtbag agents that are scumballs. I'm working a deal currently that's set to close week after next and i've received comments from the title attorney, listing agent & even the seller found my email online telling me that i'm one of the "good ones" and they've really appreciated my character through the process.

That part isn't all that crazy. What is however is that in my opinion I really haven't done much outside of just being honest and in general not a dick to work with. If just being courteous and having integrity makes me stick out that much, i'd have to imagine there are boatloads of selfish a-hole agents out there.

Not sure why they’re needed with the internet.

Only time they’re needed is if you’re moving to a new city and need someone to direct you to where you’d fit in.

Ok. Say some vague shite and not give a reason why it was a bad decision, Just cast doubt. Sounds shady as shite, it’s why people don’t like realtors. Have a great day, realtor.

I thought the same until I tried to sell my house. You just don't have the reach that a realtor can get. We tried for about 6 or 7 months with nothing more than a few showings. Realtor stepped in and we were getting offers pretty quickly. Sucks it eats into your profits, but if you really want/need to sell, it's something to look at.

Car dealerships are worse.

was just having this conversation with a friend. In 2021 I should be able to go on a manufacturers website, pick out a vehicle, pay for it, and it be delivered to my door or a designated area in my city.

The entire process of purchasing vehicles deters people from purchasing vehicles.

Because most people are stupid and need somebody to guide them through every step. Thing is most realtors are stupid too.

Because appraisals are pretty much worthless. I could most likely find comps to support any value I want within reason.

You sound slow and defensive. A recipe to get taken advantage of in the market. I’m not a realtor btw.

Lol. You’re gonna get stuck with factory floor mats and no undercarriage coating.

It isn’t scalable for large enterprise auto makers to have millions of customers for one off transactions.

They're holding the MLS hostage. Although, from what I understand, there are now companies that will list your home on MLS for a nominal fee, sans realtor.
