What’s the speed limit on this road?
If it’s a rural highway, chances are 45 mph or higher.
Tour de France riders averaged 25-28 mph on the flat sections with sprints exceeding 40 mph for “short” bursts.
Are you really trying to argue that cyclists in no passing zones do not significantly slow down traffic?

Bike trails are often the most dangerous place for serious cyclists to ride
Sounds dangerous and like you should apply for permits to use public roadways I guess.

With Insurnace rates in LA maybe everyone should consider it if possible.

*And obesity rates.

We should probably require permits for forks and spoons as well. Those are really dangerous to the people of Louisiana.

I wonder how many bike riders carry a liability policy for damage where they are at fault to another vehicle?
I ask because I saw a rider take a corner too fast and scraped the side of a car that was stopped at a light.
Even a small repair now can run into the thousands.
Do any of you riders here have such a coverage?

BIKE TRAILS
How many of these exist in the BR area that would allow for long distance road or tri bike training?

Since I retired a couple of years ago, I run most of my errands on my bike. I get most of my groceries, go to the liquor store, the drug store, the bar... It's awesome. All on public roads that I help to pay for with my property taxes. I actually use my bicycle for transportation. My truck just sits most days. I love it.

In most states (I think TX is one of the outliers) it is legal to pass cyclists in no passing zones as long as it can be done safely.

Permits to ride on public roadways that are legal for bikes to ride in already?
Call and bitch to your legislators to make bike riding on roads illegal. Until then, shut the frick up. You're a whiny a-hole. I think those cyclists sense that and intentionally mess with you.

According to Google AI, you can also do so in LA

I don't know which insurance would cover such a thing, but are you under the impression that a cyclist would just get away without compensating someone in that scenario? What if you tripped and broke someone's mirror off in a parking lot? It's not like you have "walking in a parking lot" insurance.

They have the levee off of river road that runs from downtown to L’Auberge. There and back is about 20 miles.

Google it. There is such a thing as bicycle liability insurance.

I know that one, it's the one most used by the cyclists he's talking about. I commented on it earlier in the thread.

This stretch is full of both dickhead drivers and cyclists

The truth is people around here see cyclists and they get angry because they unconsciously hate that someone else is doing something differently than them
Mine has more to do with the Critical Mass assholes doing mass rides and shutting down streets because they can.
There’s riding a bike and there’s being an a-hole.

You called me fat and bitter because I called out a cyclist that said it was hard to stop and start at stop signs
Seems like something you would hate
Cmon Mingo keep up
