We have given athletic departments far too much power over academic institutions. I’m starting to think the European model of not having athletics at schools beyond club level teams is the right way to go

Most use the combine athletic results to either justify what they see in tape or identify players from smaller programs or teams that had bad years that need to have extra film study done on. The days of workout warriors who can’t play being drafted solely on potential are gone.
Additionally, I’ve heard McShay and Kiper and Jeremiah state that the medical side of the combine is the 2nd most important only behind interviews.
