So my third time ever sailing I sailed from Mobile to New Orleans. Three days.
I made it. That empowers me more than the screw ups like today.
I want to go To Isla Mujeres next summer.

I don’t know much about sailing, but that seems pretty unsafe to take off on a trip that far as a newbie

They don't post every incident. Only the first was officially noted.

prior, were you talking about this boat which has been there since July 1st?

I have spent a shite pile of time on the water in 25 years and only had two incidents when I needed/wanted the coast guard. One when we went to a Pan Pan distress at 3 am between Ram Powell and Beercan (oil rigs) and got five guys off a boat right before we watched it sink. Coast Guard never sent anyone; just met us at the dock when we arrived to take a report. The other time was when a guy cut an artery/vein in his arm with a fillet knife. They did send a chopper then and did the whole damn basket drop, guy gets on board, and then lifts him off.
That is in literally thousands of days. You beat that in one afternoon.
Very impressive.

that is because OP is full of shite. No pics from his phone on any of these incidents?

Are you saying this is another one of those fricktastic threads that seem to always magically appear around here just to get a rise out of people and generate responses? Surely you jest.

I tried to extract facts without success

That’s an awful lot of words to let us know that operating a boat and doing water things under the influence is dangerous and stupid.

I had already contacted Seatow and was going to have boat moved tomorrow.
Seatow ain't what it used to be, or you need to up your membership status.

newbies don't know what they don't know.

Please never pilot a watercraft again. Forget the fact that everyone else’s Seatow is more expensive because of people like you - you’re going to get someone hurt or killed.

I used this line before and got positive responses.......Boy, you're a frickup.

No that boat has been there for a long time. A guy was docking and got stuck in the rocks but the CG pulled him off.

Very unsafe. I bag
Had an ELT and a dingy and stayed within sight of land except for when I sheltered from a storm by so island.
Sailing is easy once you know how to trim the sails and which sheet is which .
I even ran my Spinnaker which he previous owner never used.
Only big downside is my fore sail uses hanks and not a jib roller. So I have to unhank the sail to change it.
It was fun. I have more safety gear than I need.
My issue this time was i left the boat without leaving someone on the boat who knew how to start it.
Then the strong winds that came through.
After full inspection of the boat there is no damage that needs immediate repair. Only some scuffing.
I'm getting a new out board though. A 9hp. Going to keep the 7hp as a back up in the hold.
You learn the most through trial and error though. I went from first time ever on a boat in March. To twice weekly trips. Just sucks to dock something that long with a trolling motor size motor.
