hid behind his car for 4 minutes while kids were getting shot then he deserves to be crucified. That's inexcusable.
If this is the case, frick him. Every day that he went to work, he was being paid to be security for the school. He had a gun, he was the ONE person who was able to stop the retard who was shooting up the school and he hid behind his car.. If that's true.. He should have to serve jail time...

So it is logical to chase a guy off campus, and leave the school completely unprotected from the other shooter if there is one?
How many times have there been multiple shooters in a school?
As said, in gun free zones, the absolute first objective should be to engage the shooter in whatever form or fashion you can. Often times the second these guys are engaged, the shooting essentially stops. The shooter either evacuates, kills themselves, hides, or otherwise changes their objective.
Furthermore, there were other officers responding. Hell yes you chase down one suspect and allow the other responding officers to check the school for other suspects.

quote:I've got a bat-shite crazy sister -- the stripper/truck driver I've mentioned here before. We've been through all this kind of crap with her. The guns are locked in a Liberty safe that she has no idea how to get inside of, though, thankfully.
On Sunday in an interview with CNN, Israel slammed a letter from State Rep. Bill Hager to Florida Gov. Scott, which called for his removal on the basis of inaction after at least 23 -- and perhaps almost 50 -- police visits to the shooter’s home and the reports of his officers standing idle.
Anyway, she and my parents live in Florida and I bet the cops have been called out at least a dozen times since she was 13 for all kinds of crazy shite, including her trying to stab my mother with a kitchen knife (after that, had to put all the damn kitchen knives in a lock box), her running up and down the road yelling at people, sitting naked in a corner with a knife threatening to cut her own throat.
The law, as it stands, simply doesn't give the police the authority to do too much with crazy people. Unless they commit themselves or a judge orders it, the best the cops can do is hold them for an psych eval, which won't last much longer than a day and they are back out on the street. Even when they do get them committed, they get them on a meds routine and things working right and then let them go, whereupon the people quit taking the meds and the process repeats itself. After the incident where my sister got naked and sat in the corner threatening to kill herself, the sheriff's office took her to a mental health facility on a 72 hour hold, supposedly. She was out in less than 24 and when her husband asked how did she get out so fast her response was, "I've done this so many times that I know exactly what to tell the cops and the psychiatrist to get them to sign the release papers." You can't fix that kind of crazy.
They really do need to go back to a more aggressive way of dealing with mental health people. Obviously, they shouldn't be chained to walls and shocked, a-la Randall P. McMurphy, but this idea that they can be integrated into community treatment without consequences is insane.

Will be interesting once all the facts came out. People love throwing others under the bus and most, especially on here don’t care about facts.
facts? the guy failed miserably.

So school shootings occur mostly outside these days do they?
Why in the world was there a shooting victim all the way on the football field?
This is all "thought" "indicated" etc. Nothing was in stone. These cops acted like robots instead of humans. If you arent 100% sure find out what is going on by doing what humans use called curiosity and quick thinking.

The people inside didn't even realize there were gun shots, they though the noise was balloons popping. The building had half a dozen different wings, depending on where the shooter was he may have heard nothing.

You were robbed or what?
Robbed a few times. Had a drugged up faux baux in new orleans plant a knife into my left forearm.
And had a gun put in my face during a very heated game of high stakes monopoly

The sole purpose of having an officer at the school, other than as a deterrent, is for them to quickly react and protect life. Maybe this officer wasn’t properly trained?
I look at what happened to Congressman Scalise and how quickly those officers reacted. Two officers, but outgunned and both wounded taking out the shooter. No time to think or wait, they had to act. Can you imagine how many more would have been shot or killed if those two took the approach of this officer?

I've had a gun in my face a few times, a knife too. Not once have I ever frozen up, much less pissed myself. Call it an inability to accept my own mortality.
Congrats, internet badass. Staring down the barrel of a gun held by somebody who you reasonably believe doesn't want to fire is exactly the same as actively looking for someone you know is killing indiscriminately. You're the Alpha of the day, baw.

The last person to pull a gun on me is now in jail for double murder. Good try though.
My reaction is always the same. frick you.
I'm a piece of shite, but I'm not a piece of shite who would let kids die and unarmed men lead the way.
