As someone connected with the nursing education system I can verify what nurse says is spot on.

You're full of shite.

My wife is an RN in Birmingham and just got promoted to a patient care liaison position which included a $10 an hour raise.

She is still shy of 100k a year.

That's one of the most full of shite things I've ever heard.

You need to stay far away from any job that has random drug screens and access to controlled substances.

Sounds like someone is poor.

She doesn't need to work overtime or weekends to make more money. I make enough money so that she doesn't need to.

Wife works as an admission advisor for a Nursing College here in Houston. ..BSN''s only.

I graduated in 1998. They've been pushing this for years. I don't know when or why it started. I don't know why they started ADN programs if they were going to be reviled.

If you ever want to manage, then yes. You will need a BSN. Prepare for the shitstorm of politics as a nurse manager though. I've only met two who kept their jobs for more than 7 years. They all end up fired, or "resign" bitter.

My wife and I are both RNs working in Mississippi. We both have ADNs. We are longtime employees working at the same hospital. We work 3-4 shifts a week. Every now and then, due to high census, we will pick up a fifth shift. All of these shifts are nights. No weekends but occasional fridays. We combined for just over 186k last year.

We have no intention of acquiring a BSN.

So no. That doesn't sound like bullshite to me. This dude may have a couple of prn jobs.

My dad makes over $100k with one of his jobs, and has nothing more than his RN. There's nothing BS about it.

ULL has an all online RN to BSN program that takes 11 months and costs like $10k. No need to freak out over the BSN.

Are there any topics you aren't totally ignorant on? I know I've asked you this at least once.

You're working 1 maybe 2 extra shifts a week on nights. That's night time shift differential, overtime, and you've been there a while and you're still shy of 100k individually. Granted, not by much.

The guy specifically said he doesn't have to work every day. 5 days a week of 12 hour shifts would maybe get him to 100k a year. Not many nurses are making ~$48 an hour, especially in Mississippi.
