They don't have enough staff to open.

As a weekend lifeguard, there is a NATIONAL shortage everywhere. I don't think anyone wants to take a 6 hour on line class then a 3 day class then a drug test and a background test.

Ive read a lot of comments in various places that the owner pays them like $2 an hour with the promise of a large bonus if they stay the whole season but them terminates them before its over
I'm not gonna lie, I needed a summer job one year and I went and applied. There were tons of teens there for interviews. The old man looked out the window of his office and looked for two things: 1) who was on their phone; 2) who was smoking. Now this was about 15-20 years ago, and cell phones weren't nearly as widespread in use as they are now, and there were no vapes. But he had a little notepad and wrote down the descriptions of the ones he saw on their phones and/or if they smoked. He wasn't going to hire any of them because he knew they'd always be on their phones or taking smoke breaks. Since I had a college degree he offered me an "upper-level" job: manager of all the "games" at Dixie Landing. I would only get paid minimum wage (which was like $5.15 back then) but I would've worked a shite-ton of hours, like 9-9 every single day, 7 days a week, so I would've been paid for overtime for any hours over 40 (1.5 x my regular pay). In the end I turned it down.

They're definitely having staffing issues.

How much money has he pocketed by screwing workers out of that bullshite promised end of season bonus over the years.
Yeah, I’m still salty some 20 odd years later

All the pedophiles will be lined up when they open. We had a guy that worked with us, he would got to Blue Bayou every week by himself. He got arrested for groping a 12 year old and trying to force her into family bathroom at Walmart

A simple Yes or No answer would be helpful
Have you ever read the OT. It will never happen. Lololol

I busted a older guy filming with his cell phone one time in the wave pool. He said he was just filming the scene, then he said that he was filming women, but I could see from watching him that he was zooming in and focusing on certain kids. I went to tell a lifeguard and he hightailed it out of there quick.

So they are open for walk ups now, they were closed with the refurbishment of the pirates of the Caribbean ride. Hopefully reservations open up again shortly

I don't think being "scared" is the issue. My thing is that if you're driving down I-10 on a sunny day during the summer, you can actually see the film of sheen glistening on the water. No thanks

Not to pile on but I whenever I drive by and it is open it looks like a miserable place to be with the lines and such.
And I have never talked to anyone that went or brought their kids that planned on ever going again. It seems it is so poorly run you cannot even get them to take your money as it takes an hour to get a drink or food at the concession stands.

I am not but I saw Six Flags ruined by the sales of season passes to the locals on the cheap. Parents would drop carloads of people off for the day like it was a daycamp and it got so bad that tourist and local daily visitors did not want to be there. I do believe that is only management's fault

We used to have a blast there in the 90s when Exxon would rent it out for safety picnics.
Last time I went was 2007ish and it had gone waaaaaay downhill.

That is one disgusting place. I went once about a month after it opened in the 90’s. Never went back.
I know a young guy that worked there in high school a few years back. He tells me stories of rats running across the floor in the break room in the middle of the day.
