Saying he was brought down couldn’t be farther from the truth. He made his fortune on radio and TV worldwide before he was even known in Baton Rouge and he still does. I’m guessing he really doesn’t give a shite that he got caught because they just were a speed bump. Embarrassed maybe but as time goes on that probably doesn’t bother him either and someone listening to him or Donnie who does most of the preaching now probably don’t even know of that.
He still owns all of the campus and most buildings are in use and well maintained.

Used a Visa Gold card at Calendars in Baton Rouge and would tip 10 percent.

Well to be fair that was 25 years ago when most people only tipped 10% and that’s still higher than most people on here.

quote:How about knocked him off his moral high horse? Better? I honestly don't care what he did, wasn't my business. Just goes to show how far some people will go to get back at someone. I also believe that everyone screws up at some point in their lives (some more than others).

Like George Carlin said back in the day ...
If the guy that knows it's all bullshite is alive, it's a cult. If that guy is dead, it's a religion.

I don’t think Swaggart is very driven by his moral high horse. His driven by dollars and in that regard he hasn’t missed a beat.

Its funny to see his services on tv now. The choir members leave 2-3 seats between them to fill out the area and most of the seating areas are curtained off

think his big money winner is radio, and I think it's syndicated internationally

not sure what the attraction to him is but I read some article about his enterprise not too long ago and his bottom line is light years beyond whatever was considered his "hay day" prior to the hooker scandal, dude is apparently a marketing guru and pretty tech savvy, I'd have to dig up the article but I think it said what ever local stuff you see is more or less a façade to give the appearance of it being a brick and mortar operation when it couldn't be further from the truth as far as the business model goes

I spoke with the Minister of the church on Transcontinental and West Meraire, don’t rember the name, but the same denomination as Swaggart
The church on Transcontinental and West Metairie is St. Edwards, a Catholic school and church. Jimmy Swaggart is not the same denomination and most assuredly never been inside the church.

So did he have a cult like following in BR? This was honestly before my time so I really don’t know. But I see how people are in BR today in regards to religion and I can very much see this guy brainwashing people very easily around here
