The thing is, I did this at 4 a.m. before she could sort a story. And I recorded the conversation, which is legal if both parties are in it. Later in the day, I think that she thought about our conversation a good bit and tried to change the story a bit.
And for all the OTers still living in marriage bliss--did you ever in a million years think your wife would do something like this?

1. The wife is cheating or has found what she perceives as a better option and has lined him up.
2. Lawyer Up.
3. Hide money and assets. Sell possessions to friends/family and get bills of sale.
4. Do not be alone with her. She may accused you of domestic violence. If you need to see/meet her have a friend with you.
5. Document every thing. Communicate in texts or emails only.
6. Realize you are now adversaries and she will do any and everything to take all she can from you. She believes she is owed it and her friends do too.
7. Do not speak to her friends or family, period.
8. Be kind, unemotional and business like in all communications.
9. Good luck.

I always wonder how the wives spin it to their parents/relatives when it's her decision to leave for lame reasons like the guy being a bully, not in tune with her emotions, doesn't make her feel special anymore, etc.

I just don't love him anymore
I could do better
We just aren't a good fit
Fill in a million other meaningless sentences

He gave you too much of everything you wanted, and life got too easy. You wanted conflict and hardship as if everything else in life did not promise you an endless journey of just that. This is where you failed. The nice guy has been hurt, too, he just chose to stay nice. He learned that different people were going to provide him different things in life. The nice guy also chose not to let any of it change who he was. So, he let you walk away and he called it a day. Everyone always says there are plenty of fish in the sea, and he let you go knowing this, even though it hurt. What you don’t know is that someone else is out there, and she won’t be as foolish you. When you realize all you really want is the nice guy who cares about you too much, it’s going to be too late. Some other girl will be able to see how great he is, and she won’t waste a minute.

As an officer, adultery is especially troublesome. Not kicked out, but all those years she worked so hard for to get that retirement would be all but gone along with the retirement.
