I think the story is more likely they were all drinking and doing coke, Natalie and Chris were flirting a little too intensely for ol Bob, Walken retired to his quarters, Bob beat the shite out of Natalie in a jealous rage, she took off on an escape/rescue raft/dinghy in the middle of the night after he passed out/fell asleep, had some sort of accident, fell out, and drowned.

I think it's more likely he beat her in a drunken and/or drugged out rage and simply tossed her overboard.

The sex stuff wouldn't have freaked out Woods. She was a well known sex fiend. She was banging the director of "Rebel Without A Cause" at 16 years old.
