No excuse for this. This has happened enough times in their line of work that it should be part or training, procedures in place, and devices installed to prevent this from ever happening anymore.

so suppose this was a true accident of sorts
It was negligence, not an accident.

Right. You don't wonder where your dog is when it's time to feed him or go to bed?

cop should catch charges for harming/killing an officer
Agree.
A perp shoots a K-9 and gets lit up, and it's a clean shoot because the dog is a police officer.
Same principle should apply to a handler.

Will the officer be charged with murder?
Since the K9 is considered an officer ?

You would have to thread quite the needle of not needing to feed him, walk him, etc… and a real strong distraction to justify a mistake.
You’ll notice it’s normally the non traditional parent missing drop off at daycare and going to work where they don’t have associated tasks to remind them of the disastrous mistake that creates this- not mom coming back from the grocery store leaving a kid in the car all day when they should be taking care of the kid

Sure but let’s not act like anyone here has any real facts of the case.

The cop should have just shot him in the head

Attending officer should be charges with negligent homicide. If a criminal being chased by a officer and K-9 shoots or injures the K-9, then he/she faces charges just like it was against a regular lawman.
Saying Im sorry or whoopsie daisy doesn't excuse the death of this animal.

According to the police, a K9 is an officer and if you attack one, it’s the same as attacking an officer. So this dog’s handler should be charged with the killing of an officer.

My first priority is my canine, always.
It was that way active duty .... that was as a husband and a father ..... that was in retirement.
No excuses for what this K-9 officer did imho.

He needs to be charged with murder if a police officer. This happens far too often. If they won’t be held accountable, animals need to stop being exploited for their use. I hope something bad happens to him or one of his family members. Maybe the latter, so he will feel the pain.

Cop should be charged with murder of another police officer. That's wildly inexcusable.
This is true. If a normal person neglects and a police dog dies, its considered a crime and is prosecuted.

No. The blue is constantly showing itself they aren’t worthy.

My truck tells me when there is something in the back seat, does this technology not exist for cop cars?

No, knowing what negligence means is what's driving that statement.

There have to be charges for this.
