Bumping for update. Grand Jury declines to indict. His kid was being bullied. Claimed self defense.

Was it legal for him to have a gun on campus in the first place? On a quick check I could only find elementary and secondary school restrictions/limits.
What were the police escorts doing during all of this?
Below is from his attorney and could obviously be slanted towards his client, but if remotely true what the heck is going on at this campus.

Lawyers say KSU failed to address ongoing violence against Bard’s son from other students, so Bard’s family decided the only option was to withdraw from school.
Bard and his family were being escorted by police to remove his son’s items from his dorm when attorneys say 20 to 30 people gathered in the lobby to attack them.
Lawyers say many of them weren’t even students and wore ski masks to hide their faces.
They say the mob started to attack as they tried to leave, and Bard’s son was slammed to the ground in the process, with several people beating him.
Lawyers say Bard was hurt trying to pull people off his son, and believed there to be a threat of death or serious injury when he pulled out his gun and fired at two people.
“Absolutely his actions were justified. He was acting in defense primarily of his son, but also of his wife and himself,” Danks said.
Attorneys say Bard’s family has been the subject of credible death threats since the incident.

If you include college campus ones and the ones after ballgames, I would estimate that African-American males accont for somewhere between 65-80 percent of school shooters.

Most all HBCUs are daycare centers for 20 year olds and a massive waste of tax dollars

Its Kentucky State. I live 10 miles from there. Tough place.

Has no bearing on my feelings about the father's actions, good job, but that reads like his boy really pissed off the wrong group of people. Would be interesting to know the backstory. 20-30 people with masks coming to get you on moving out day while you're being escorted by police and with your parents gives an indication he did something to somebody that is deemed unforgivable. Then again I am trying to apply logic to thug activities so they couldve just been random people.
