went o the 1st one i have been too in 23 years for Joe Caine day in Mobile - forgot how much fun it was to just hang out with Family and friends and have a good time.

They celebrating the end of the joyous Christmas and regular season and the beginning of the Easter Season. A time for rejoice, celebration, and partying before the lenton fasting and introspection begins.

In the south? Perhaps in Mobile and New Orleans and a few other towns but it's not celebrated as a Holiday in Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, Jackson, Memphis, etc. Sorry.

I'm not complaining, I love Mardi Gras as much as the next guy... I'm trying to take a step back and look at it objectively and stimulate discussion.

It's supposed to be a blow out before they restrain their behavior and make some sort of sacrifice for Lent. It's not a holiday though.
