Speech therapist I work with, her uncle is a RT at the VA hospital here in Jackson. She said that during this stuff, they are giving a 20% rate increase and double pay for overtime.

Such originality. Such charisma.

Have you ever done a chest tube nurse? That shite hurt. Looked like I had a Mason jar taped to my side for a few weeks. Granted this was 30 years ago.
I wouldn’t say it hurt when they pulled out my chest tubes. It was one of the most odd sensations I’ve ever experienced though. What sucks is just a few days after them pulling them out, I had them in again and had to go thorough it all over again.

I have grain bins full of grain from last year that we are having trouble moving because some of the mills have employees laying out of work. They are focusing more on rail cars and barges instead of semi trucks. They are talking about taking only rail cars until this is over.
Some of our local suppliers have most of the early inputs we need for this years crop but some of the stuff we use later in the year are still in the pipeline (from China). If it does not get here by fall it could get serious quick.

I was 13 so hardly a grown man when I got mine. I almost died from a misdiagnosed ruptured appendix and spent over 100 days in the hospital. I vividly remember the chest tube though. Fluid in my lungs was one of several side effects that I had.

The undertakers, baw. Busier than a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest.

I never had fluid in my lungs what I had was fluid (actually blood) around my lungs. Even either three drain tubes they still had to drain out a couple liters with a needle inserted into my chest cavity. The drain tubes didn’t hurt. But draining with that damn needle was freaking torture.

Knowledge economy jobs are less affected. Jobs that require physical labor are more affected.

Had that too before they put the tube in. It was miserable indeed.

I’m in Finance and Operations for a Post Acute Healthcare Network. We have never been busier. Been in the office everyday including Saturday. Somebody’s got to keep the trains running for the people providing care.

Knowledge economy jobs
I would say times like these prove that "knowledge economy" jobs are very unessential.

We don’t need you for soap and whiskey. Fire ball doesn’t count

You been to a plant that makes soap or through a large distillery or brewery they look a hell of a lot like a chemical plant to me. Good luck with you bath tub gin and animal fat soap buddy. Sure you wife will smell lovely in some cat fat soap.

What are you sourcing from China?

I’m not trying to make enough for everyone. Just saying it’s been done for centuries by people that couldn’t even spell their names.
