You have no idea what you just said… and don’t understand physiology.

You think the numbers dont change any aspect of how BP would be managed? thats pure nonsense.
it can yield info that would help guide dosages/timing and other aspects of managing BP. monitoring at home will help tell if there is too much or not enough impact from meds/lifestyle changes. You may start noticing patterns either high or low at certain times of the day or after certain things... based on the patterns you might be better off taking shorter vs longer lasting formulations or when to hydrate and eat salt vs restrict. this will absolutely help people avoid bottoming out or going thru the roof. its also really the only way to know your baseline BP and if the therapies are working or not.
Its the difference in the doctor just hoping meds are working adequately vs having solid insight. I cant get over how moronic it is to advocate that the numbers in BP won't change anything just 'listen to your body'.

I was talking in a random/emergent situation… it does not change anything. Yes f/u with your family doc but people obsess about a number that doesn’t matter in one instance

Good luck with your stroke, dummy.
I have no idea what I just said.

so you were responding to an entirely different scenario than the post you responded to was talking about without clarifying? :

Have usually been told by their doctor to get a BP monitor and to check it a couple of times daily to monitor how new medication doses are working
yes the number does still matter in an emergent situation. it will determine how rapidly the reductions of BP should be and which medications would be appropriate. some scenarios you may want to allow permissive hyptertension... it will determine what other organs the docs will be searching for damage or looking to treat.
I do agree that that 1 random emergency measurement isnt super relevant for long term mgmt, but you were responding to a f/u monitoring BP post. the number does matter. saying it doesnt is moronic.

On a bad day, 2 to 4 liters.

If your BP is running 200/100 consistently, I hope you are on warfarin, xaralto, or eliquis. If you're not on a blood thinner, I would think you're at an above average risk for stroking out. But you do you.
It’s actually contraindicated to have uncontrolled hypertension and to be on anticoagulation
Can bleed into your brain and stroke out that way
But you do you….

Mine has always been around 95/65. Doctors don't seem worried, I've asked them. My heart rate is about 85.
Im not on any medicine.

I heard over the weekend in the Daytona 500 that some drivers exercise to keep their bpm's low, and their resting bpm is in the low 50s.
Those are rookie numbers. I took this a few weeks back mid-morning at the office after the second cup of coffee. My true RHR is about 38-40 BPM and I am older than Villeneuve.

Oh, shite...
I'm still on Plavix, but temporarily off Eliquis for the angiogram. BP was 169/103 this morning. Stopped Valsartan and started Edarbi about a week or ten days ago, but it doesn't seem to be working any better than the last five BP drugs.
