Death is inevitable. Possibly even immenent. I've made my peace. Just wish I could afford life insurance

I don't have the answer on how to stop life from passing you by but I live one day at a time and enjoy each day.

I am 42 and kind of feel that way. The last 10 years of my life have seemed to pass in a flash. Its quite depressing. I haven't really realized how fast it has been now that I have kids. I have a 6yr old and a 1yr old. I remember spending the first year or so of my oldest son's life wishing he was older so I could have some conversation and outside fun with him. He's at that age now and I am wishing he was a baby all over because I feel like it's just a distant memory.
What i have done for myself is to enjoy my youngest sons first year of life more. Enjoy all the little things that I feel I missed because I was always rushing to the next stage with the oldest. While the time is still passing fast, I am enjoying it more i suppose.

Let there be no doubt. You will die. Might be 30 years from now, might be 30 minutes. It's not a matter of if, but when. And I think the idea of that terrifies you.

I'm fifty-four. It seems like time is flying. Just make the most of everyday. We're only here for a blink of an eye. This world is an amazing place and we have been blessed to be a part of it. Enjoy it while you're here.

Thank you. I have heard talk of such a board but didn't know it actually existed.

yeah. there's a good rundown here LINK
if anything, he should be a hero on this board. I mean, this wasn't even a Tulane situation.
back on topic(s),

Out of breath and out of cash, find yourself watching M.A.S.H., every night
on the couch.
Woman says let's take a drive down south.
Roll down the windows and open our mouths, taste where we are and play the music loud.
Stop the car, lay on the grass, the planets spin and we watch space pass.
Walk a direction, see where we get. I never knew nothin' so there's nothin' to forget.
Get real drunk and ride our bikes. There's so much beauty it could make you cry.
The rich get money but never what they want. Find ourselves a new place to haunt.
Climb up the fire escape, do it 'til the ground looks far away.
Go night swimming, leave our clothes on the ground, when we get busted,we just stand there proud.
It's the truth, we all been wrong, make it up and let's move on.
Playing cards, we all get to act sly, there's so much beauty it could make you cry.
I feel like i'm writing a dissertation on MM today.
anyway,

I'm lucky enough to get more time w my kids than most and I relish the shite out of it, but still have to catch myself to make sure shite doesn't just get drowned out in the daily grind. They're now 9 & 7 and always doing something, so those quiet moments are fewer and farther between, so they're even more important, but somehow still easy as hell to miss if I'm not careful. It's a weird spot enjoying who they are and all the things they can do now, but those same things rub your nose in how quickly it has gone by, and remind you how quickly the rest will too.

Man, I'm 41 and can TOTALLY relate. It's like the first 20 or so years took forever, and the next 21 flew by...and still are.
Well you didn't have shite to do for the first 20 or so years tbh. Boredom makes time crawl

I agree, I didn't have a clue what I was doing, and as I was learning the little I know, it all flew by. The second one has slowed me down just a hair.

Random thoughts related to age/this topic:
I turned 50 recently. I think a lot about how things will be for the people I leave behind when I die.
My four years in high school seemed to last 20 years. My four years in the Navy seemed to last 10 years. Time seems to increase exponentially from that time on.
When our kids were young, I looked forward to them being grown and independent. Now, I miss them being 3-12 when I was their hero and I could fix every one of their problems. I'm always a bit saddened when I see Dads with young children not realizing just how good things are at that age.
I don't seem to have as many peaks/joy and valleys/anger. My thoughts are much more centered on logic than emotion.
I get less excited when my sports teams win and less upset when they lose.
I'm much more selective about people with whom I spend time and much less tolerant of bullshite drama.
