So you're a student, don't have a parking permit, and the car is registered in your parent's name.
You may have to get Mom or Dad to call and see if they can get out of it...convince them to lie and say they were just picking you up or meeting someone.
If their address is the same as the one you're registered at LSU with, it may still trace back to you though.

Not to be dense about this but I can't believe what I am reading. Am I correct to understand that (as a tax-paying citizen of LA) I can't drive my car and park it in a paid spot at a state university after hours? I am just not allowed to bring a vehicle on campus during the work week at all? What if I have business on-campus?
You can go get a visitor's parking pass from the visitor's center, but I'm not sure what time they close.

How did you get a ticket on campus at night? They stop checking parking at 4:30
False. They will check lots after 4:30 for vehicles that aren't registered. After 4:30 you can park wherever, provided you have a pass.

You can park it in a metered spot, visitors spot, or a designated lot with a visitors pass.

See above.

They could write a lot of tickets this Friday night for fans going to the basketball game parking an unregistered car on campus. Although that would be pretty stupid of them.

There are exceptions made for lots surrounding athletic venues on game nights that fall during the week.
The active time for permitted parking is 7:30am Monday - 4:30p Friday excluding holidays and special events.

I am a student but I don't ever drive to campus except for last night. And I don't have any kind of permit registered to my vehicle at all
What time was the citation issued?
ETA: nevermind. Go appeal the citation. I park on campus sometimes for meetings and work related events and have never received a citation on my POV.

Rather than starting a new thread, what if I'm a student, but I borrowed a non students car and got the ticket? It happened a month ago and I've just said frick you lsu and threw the ticket away. Can they do anything?

Ticket is attached to the vehicle.
You screwed your friend. Nice job.

i had a vehicle registered in my parents name. I didn't have a tag. Somehow it ended up on my fee bill. The vehicle was new and had never been registered with LSU, so i don't know how that happened.
$100 is outrageous. I remember when it was $15. Go make up an excuse. I just told them my roommate who wasn't a student borrowed my vehicle and the took it off once.

20. Other Hours • The hours between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. each weekday, all day Saturday and Sunday, and holidays when University offices are closed are not hours of zone parking. However, a parking permit is required at all hours on weekdays (day and night). After the hours of zone parking, a parking permit must be properly displayed to avoid receiving an unregistered ticket. from the parking website
So if random non student goes to campus after hours to attend a concert, lecture, play, whatever, he gets a ticket? Awesome PR for the University

My mother's daughter was up here with her son for orientation and parked on campus.
She got a ticket and ignored it.
She got a bill in the mail for the cost of the ticket.
They will hunt you down...

I think I saw somewhere that the meters on LSU campus are until something ridiculous like 10 p.m.

Or just park in the area of the event. LSU Parking isn't going to ticket the Union lot on a weeknight of a theater event there.
They are going to ticket the X lot by the Rec and Greek houses after hours and central faculty lots like the Lockett/Dodson one.
