Does Benadryl or other allergy meds help if taken beforehand?
I’m allergic to oysters, but allergy meds don’t help.

Benadryl helps a little after but it doesn’t stop the tiny, painful hives around my lips. Got my son’s Mario Badescu drying lotion out to put on them overnight. They will dry up and flake off tomorrow morning. Just looks like tiny little zits around my mouth right now. Not sexy but no one is here this weekend so… still worth it.
So do you just nit eat oysters at all anymore?

You have all the fetishes.
But you’re welcome to come scratch my head and feet until this allergic reaction is over

My kids can all eat them, luckily

We went to banh mi boys in Metairie a few months ago and the kids got the oyster Rockefeller French fries - I ate a French fry from the bottom with no stuff on it and got hives

Nooo. That would be awful. I can usually get away with eating 1 shrimp without more than a few hives around my mouth but I can’t eat it more than once every few weeks - a month or the hives get much worse.

1 shrimp or like 1 shrimp dish?

I can handle that

1 shrimp is ok usually. The full serving of etoufee I ate tonight is a full hive and itch reaction. I have about 12 blister type hives around my lips right now but they will be dried out and gone tomorrow. Late developing food allergies shouldn’t be a thing.

Yeah this too - I try to forget
As a kid my mom would get oyster loaves every Friday and I’d throw up after and got punished

I was once served the same plate of fish and sautéed spinach for 4 meals straight bc I wouldn’t finish it.
