Yep, absolutely. If you enjoy it, you enjoy it. For example, I don't mind mowing and edging, but I hate weed eating. Even without the sunk equipment costs, $40 to save myself a couple hours of work is an easy decision for me. Add the equipment, and it's a no brainer. But everyone is different.

I have a reel mower, mow maybe twice a year. Thanks for asking though, you take such an interest in my life.

Enjoying a few hours labor is pretty satisfying, if its done right. I suck at yardwork, but do enjoy the attempt.

Many things are "zen things", but they aren't "zen" for everyone. I don't like fishing either, but I love cooking it and eating it. It's a zen thing for me.
