You must be catching it at popular places like Henry’s or LeBonTemps. I’ve been riding in Thoth almost 30 years and there’s still single rows of people on Magazine but once we hit Napoleon it’s shoulder to shoulder until the end of the route.
As others stated, from Napoleon midway to Louisiana there are a large amount of college students bussed from Tulane that are mostly uninitiated to Mardi Gras etiquette and think they’re the center of the universe. I’ve seen more than 1 scuffle because of it.
Oh, and the crowd in front of Superior is less than family friendly.

No, Magazine is overcrowded and dangerous. It is the wrong place for anyone to be looking. Go to the CBD where it is clear.
