Yes, it is weird on all levels. Except for one - they're still married after 20 years.
There are more than just a few "normal" couplings that don't last that long. You know, situations that don't involve court orders to stay away from each other and multiyear prison sentences.
It's pretty clear they are as devoted to one another in as crazy a way as possible. I have no idea whether that is good or bad.

If those two crazy kids -- well, one crazy kid, one completely fricknuts adult woman -- can make it, maybe there's hope for the rest of us.
As far as her dad goes, even by the conservative standards of a Southern sports message board, ardent John Bircher politicians are cutting it pretty close when approaching the line between being sane and, well, being completely fricknuts.

And he got the boot from some right wing groups because he was TOO conservative and his ideas were considered to be too extreme. The guy was a nut.
He refused to acknowledge that the two illegitimate children were his and provided no support. When their mother died, they were 11 and 13. He still refused them and a family friend took them in. When she died, the kids were 14 and 16 and became wards of the state. Dude was an a-hole.
