Sounds like she isn't a church-going Christian, but simply a check mark Christian. Which would make sense given you married her because even casual Christian girls would find an atheist believer to be a red flag for marriage.

I understand your frustration.

When people are talking about the most serious of things and some a-hole is being and a-hole someone has to put them in check.

The person putting them in check invariably ends up drawn into the mire of making things political.

It’s akin to the guy in a football game getting the personal foul for retaliating rather than the guy that started it.

There is a place for some political discussions on these tragedies but it shouldn’t be the the way it has gone down the last few pages.

Yeah, they would never take the chance that you might have her thinking for herself eventually. It's too risky.

Possible motive.

He isn't just someone who decided religion isn't for him. He's one of the people who gets in your face about it.

And he didn't shoot up a restaurant or concert - he targeted a house of worship, the very type of venue he openly dislikes.

If someone who likes David Duke on Facebook shoots black people, or someone who likes BLM targets cops, or an Occupier targets Republicans, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume a connection?

And there's that atheist know-it-all everyone knows and loves coming out!

Atheists are the smartest people out there, and christian people are just stupid idiots who hold the world back.

Am I doing it right?

What's an atheist believer?

Can you not grasp that two people that have different ideologies can coexist?

I think for me it's just the arrogance of any religion thinking they have the market cornered on truth. I take spiritual truths from all religions but I don't mistake the dogma I was conditioned with growing up as absolute truth. I'm comfortable saying I really don't know.

My bad, an atheist.

Religion is a pretty big ideology to differ on when it comes to marriage, and I would say in most cases would become a major issue down the road.

I thought this was common sense.

That doesn't mean it can't happen that two people of a different religion marry, but if religion is a deep part of their life, then I don't see how they would have a ton in common as they would grow closer together.

Neighbor is safe, he was out of town. Another family we know suffered unimaginable losses, the pregnant wife, two of the kids, and the grandparents (parents of husband) didn't make it, the husband was wounded but survived. They have two other kids that spent the night at their aunt's house. Still haven't heard the condition of a couple I've known forever.

My wife is religious, and I'm not. We don't feel the need to degrade each others' beliefs. When she wants to go to church, I go with her because I'm a kickass husband and support her in what she believes in. I don't find it to be a terrible time. Everyone's happy. I don't see the major issue there.

False. She takes our son to church and my inlaws are devout Christians. You can't help who you fall in love with and she's perfect for me. My parents were Christians. I'm not anti-Christian. I went to church until I started college and I don't have a problem with it. It's just not what I believe. The only religion that I just hate is Islam.

I couldn’t even imagine having to deal with something like that. Not only losing your parents, but your wife and 3 kids. Absolutely heartbreaking. My 3 year old son and I will be saying a special prayer tonight for this family.

Man, how do you keep it going for your other kids after that? That’s about the worst thing that could ever happen.

I can't imagine the grief that those families are going through. This makes my heart hurt. Thoughts to everyone there. This is just insane, as it is in the most unlikely of places and the most innocent are involved.

They need you.

I'm worried about what happens to him when the younger one finished high school.

Church members with a carry permit should organize and make sure a few are strapped at every service. My dad and other members at his church have been doing this a while.

Yep. I carry at my church as well. Not many of us do, but if someone wants to do something stupid, we will be ready. It's situations like these that force us to carry. Once again, a good person with a gun stopped a bad person with a gun. I wish that everyone would pack.
