Tesla about to get some competition from Germany...
Should be out in 2018...with S, GTS, and TurboS versions to follow the following 2 years.

And they will sell well

I don't believe they will mess with the 911 and electric motors just yet. They created a new line for this. I would imagine that they learned a little from history not to screw with the old guard 911 group
...remember the upheaval when air cooled went away in '96??

I know that Porsche 911 lost but goddamn I'm a sucker for those things
You don't really buy a 911 to drag race. It would fare very well on a real race track against the cars that beat it in the 1/4 mile. Though pretty much all of those cars would lose to a Camaro ZL1 1LE on a race track.

You don't spend much time at the race track, huh?

The Porsche people like to voice their concerns that's for sure. Water cooled, headlights, PDK only, GT3 touring with no backseat, too big, etc.
I just saw a new Turbo S. Amazing car even when parked.

You don't know much about the 2018 ZL1 1 LE, do you?
Nurburgring lap times

Lambo huracan
mcclaren p1

Aren't you the same poster that asked if it was OK to drive from Dallas to BR on a donut wheel?
You must really know a good bit about racing.

In this test, only the Ferrari, the AMG GTR, and the Turbo S put up a faster lap time than the 1LE on the road course. The Camaro beat all the others.
And of those 3, only the AMG GTR beat the Camaro at Nurburgring.
Case closed. You don't pay much attention at the track, do you?
ETA: And all cost at least double what the Camaro costs.
And for the record, I've run track days in my 911 and my C7 Vette.

They should have run a Z06 instead of the Grand Sport.

It is all about the torque.
Electric motors don't need to spool up to reach their power band. The torque is just there. Always.

As odd as it seems, maximum torque from a electric motor starts at zero RPM making it a ideal power source for drag racing.
