I feel like Kenmore should be forced to tell buyers who actually built their machine since kenmore doesn't build appliances they just rebadge them.

I don't know what to think of it, without the first three digits of the model number I don't know who made it.

Yeah, GTG

I was trying to answer two questions from two posts in one post. Personally I don't think the dishdrawers clean as well, but if you are getting one get F/P. The only plus is you can run small loads after every meal rather than waiting to fill the D/W.

anything except a Maytag. I recently had trouble with mine and the parts book had incorrect part numbers. the repair man came out 3 times before he had the right part. My machine is less than 3 years old and has had 2 major repairs. it was not a cheap model at the time of purchase either.

GE would be my recommendation. They tend to stick to the solid engineering vs overdoing the bells and whistles. They have everything from entry level to high-horser models. I think most are made in the USA.

GE uses the shittiest of all control boards. The only PCB boards I carry a lot of in truck stock are GE. That tells me that GE has a high PCB board failure rate, with the average board being around $200-250. Still change them all the time because the products are expensive.
Cheap GE's are fine, but I see moderate and high priced GEs as ticking time bombs. Though the Monogram fridges and ovens are pretty solid.

Thermador makes great ovens.
not so keen on anything else.

Same with viking, great ovens, decent icemakers, but meh on everything else. Gets to where they are just selling their name.

You are correct that kenmore doesn't build appliances but they don't rebadge them, either. Kenmore creates custom specs and puts the package out to bid. Whoever wins the bid, builds them. The appliances are custom built for Kenmore and not the exact same as options from the building company.

From this post, I'm guessing you are unfamiliar with the samsung, LG and boschs of the world. GE's boards are much more reliable than those brands.

fwiw...I have 35 years on the sales side of appliances, from $300 washers - $15,000 - Sub-Zero refrigerators. I have lurked here for a year because I find this the most entertaining board around. Bosch is the only brand I would consider buying with my money

The ascenta a nice machine but has the plastic bottom and also is built on the German platform Which is less capacity than the American platform of the Bosch dishwasher built in North Carolina...step up to the Bosch full stainless tub which should be on national promotion around 4th of July weekend. It will also be quieter than ascenta model. Whichever one you end up with it is mandatory that you use Jet-Dry or your dishes will not dry...hope this is helpful

On our 2nd Bosch, only because we lost the first to a house fire. We don't do much pre washing, just throw in the dishes, and it cleans the hell out of them. The ONLY thing that anyone could gripe about a Bosch is the drying process. They don't use heating elements, which saves energy and doesn't warp plastic items, but you have to keep Jet Dry in it and don't open it for about an hour after it's done. We always set the timer to wash in the middle of the night, so it's not a problem for us.

bosch is the answer. It does a substantially better job than others I have used and is quiet enough that I can't tell it is running without looking at the light on the floor.

No, not at all.

Lets talk fridges. petty much 100% of the time I have a bad GE fridge I know it's a control board. They fry constantly, good thing they have used the same board for almost two decades now. I have three on my truck now. I also see a lot of Korean frdges but I can't recall ever changing the main board on a Samsung and I can only think of one LG I did in the last year. I can pull up my records now and see I sold 13 55X10942's this year. We are only in June and 13 times I had to change one part, a $206 PCB board. If the fan sticks, it fries the board, if the defrost fails, replace the board. etc....
I'm not even getting into oven boards, hell my oven I'm currently using is a GE and I personally have $355 in electronics in it. That's wholesale priced. (I actually have a GE dish and oven now, but I change my appliances every year or so and rarely pay for them, except my fridge, got the Holy grail of S-Zs and stopped there. )

Samsungs and LGs have lots of failures, but generally they don't mark up the cheap parts too much so their boards are much more economical.
really most appliances made after 2003 are shite and I wouldn't expect to get ten years from any brand, unless it starts with a "S" and also doesn't make phones.

Doesn't Haier own GE now? the brand known for nothing but shite dorm fridges and Chinese knock-offs. GE used to bring great things to life, now they sell junk.

Yes Jet Dry Jet Dry Jet Dry. Man It's insane how many issues are caused (especially water spotting) due to not using Jet dry.

If you have really bad water spotting run a load of vinegar first (no dishes, cup of white vinegar)
and then add the jet dry and then wash and it should be fine. Our extreme hard water in the NOLA area makes spotting a problem.

Bosch is great, I may say many love their Asko and Miele as well, but I'm not sure they are worth the premium over Bosch. Plus finding Asko parts is a pain in the arse.
