Let's change the optics of this a little. you see a person paying for the agents who are wearing a black lives matters t shirt or a hajib.

My god you are one dense SOB. We don't have to change the optics because your hypothetical didn't happen. There are very clear reasons, that everyone here agrees with, why government employees can't accept gifts. It's one thing if OP calls these guys and asks to take them to lunch but its wholly different if their bill got paid unbeknownst to them. It's as if government employees can't even go on a frickin diet because of the ridiculous burden of paperwork...

I'm glad the circle jerk is strong in this one, though.

Link to where they have to itemize each meal.

Thanks fricktard.

If a director asked about it they'd honestly be able to say that a stranger paid for it and they didn't know who it was. I don't think anyone would ever ask.

This. Again, Literally who would complain about a page or two of BS paperwork because someone was nice enough to buy them a meal? I'd happily fill it out knowing someone was nice enough to make that gesture.

There could certainly be times when buying a government employee a meal would be out of place, but today is not one of those days for LEO's.

Isn't a per diem a fixed amount per day? So why would they have to account for anything? A per diem is used to reduce the amount of paperwork. But what do I know, I've only been buying Federal employees meals for 30+ years.

To OP, great gesture, do it, and ignore the miserable arse wipes in this thread.

Actually, louisiana state employees can have $57 of food or drink while in the presence of the person who purchased it. Idk the amount for HSO.

There are ways around those limits if spaced out. I routinely buy lunch for state employees who I used to work with under contract. Just don't do it for anyone we currently work with or possible future contracts.

The officers shouldn't accept it because then they would be endorsing whatever movement you are a part of (BLM or Anti-BLM).

If a patron in dreds and a #StayWoke shirt paid for their meal, you wouldn't want that, right?

Best thing to do is quietly pass and then let them get back to enjoying a little downtime in peace.
