I know nothing about Toyota pickup trucks

The Tacoma was one most over-rated vehicles on the market when I was truck shopping 8 years ago, and the new models are a hasty re-fresh of that exact same truck. It rides like the axles are bolted directly to the frame, it has an uncomfortable and noisy interior, and offers terrible fuel economy. It's a terrible choice if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel and it has been bested by nearly all of its competitors.

Look at the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Ford F150, or GMC Sierra instead.

Edit: Up here in PA where they use a lot of salt on the roads, the Toyota trucks all rust out within 4-5 winters. I have been told that they are actually notorious for this issue up here.

Take that thing on steep/tight offroad trails and you'll love how precise it is. It's a light truck that is not supposed to ride like your mom's old Oldsmobile Delta 88. It's called being nimble and responsive. Being geared the way it is sucks for MPG, but it's awesome when you need it.

Every one of your other comments were spot on though. I think the bed of my '06 GMC truck was made out of magic metal, I gouged the shite out of it on the reg and it still hasn't rusted (my nephew drives it).

Just bought a 2015 Tacoma 4x4 and LOVE it. It's the 4th one I've owned. Great, sturdy trucks that will last forever.

Haven't had once since 09, but it was a great truck. Would buy again.

Exactly how old are you? I'm curious what "forever" means to you in terms of trucks.

Is it worth it to lease a truck or just buy one? Also which truck would be best for 45 mile daily commute? (comfort/mpg etc)

Most Tacomas are two wheel drive pavement queens with the "prerunner" package.

Have a friend that just bought one. In person, it exceeded my expectations. Looks good.

But buy a '15 F-150.

Well, it meant 16 months in my first marriage.

It seemed like forever, so there's that.

I know, but Tacomas are more comfortable on long trips than Jeeps and offer almost the off-road capabilities.

The 2016s just haven't had enough time to rust out yet.

As a Tacoma and Jeep owner, to a certain extent yes that is correct, but the JK Rubicon with just tires and a modest lift will go far more places that a Tacoma with equal mods.

BTW... what kind of tires are those?
