I'm quite familiar with the 900 block of Montegut. We did some work on a 900 sqft shotgun that our client paid half a million for. It's definitely undergoing gentrification. It's a mix of a few black families that have owned their homes for a long time and influx of well-to-do gay couples and hipsters. (Our client is a hipster that inherited frick you money.)
I'd bet money that the perpetrator was a gutter-punk, not a local.

Probably kicked out of the naval base when they started redoing it.

That’s exactly what all the hipsters who live down there like. Let it burn.

They have to do that during normal hours? I've got family there (1 and 2) and thought I should visit one day when I'm in town (quick in and out, while carrying) but I guess you need to call in advance?
I have my great great grandmother and great grandmother interred there. My elderly mother and her sister like to go put flowers on the grave. I bring them every November 1, All Saints Day. There are always plenty of people visiting the cemetery on that day.

on house they sold for 30k to a longtime tenant sold a couple years ago for 450k - by the kids of longtime tenant... they rebuilt it very nice after Katrina - the kids all lived on Northshore by then too. good for them.

1985 the slide began
Probably before then. It was well underway by 1985. We had a elderly family member who lived on Desire between St. Claude and the river. I think it was '85 when he got mugged in front of his house. After getting bashed in the head we had to get him out of there.

That's actually a great idea. Thank you for the tip.

Crime decreased because NOPD stopped responding at all to lots of things. No report = no crime. They don’t give a frick. Go to work; eat donuts; do zero reports and suddenly NO is safe by the numbers. The cops ARE with the criminals. Organized crime. RICO all of them.
