That's the thing. The Feds and the City Council / Mayors office have so neutered the NOPD that it was only a matter of time before people figured out they are powerless. One officer shows up to 100 people in the street. What's he really going to do? Not a damn thing.
NOPD isn't even allowed to tear gas people or use rubber baton rounds on people anymore after that BLM fiasco a couple of years ago. Want to stop these gatherings and general lawlessness? Show up and gas the frick out of everyone after they refuse an order to disperse. Then baton round and arrest everyone who doesn't immediately haul arse.

I wouldn't get out of the unit either in that crowd with no backup, but at a minimum I would have floored it and slammed the on brakes. Repeat as necessary.
