THIS. I went this morning and the guy comes walking over after I am half way through selecting the wash and paying and squeezes between the car and kiosk to try and take over. I told him that I am fine and to move. They make self service shite and then try to get involved. Either have the guy out there to take payment and provide service or make it self service and leave me alone.

I drive a Tahoe. 330 days a year I would be fine in a sedan. But 35 days a year I am at the camp, pulling a trailer or jumping a curb to drive through a field at a party in the country. Sedan ain’t making it for that. But the Tahoe does all the sedan stuff. Which one would you pick?

I have a Japanese friend who lives just outside Tokyo. He owns a business now but tells me stories of when he was a worker bee at a big corporation.
You had to get to work in the morning before your boss. And you couldn’t leave until he did. He told me stories of being in the office until midnight. The trains were done for the night so he would take a taxi home and pick up McDonalds on the way. The taxi would cost most of his daily wages. He would sleep two or three hours and turn around and head back in.
If the boss decided to take the office out for a drink or five (at least once a week) you had to go. If you didn’t, you basically became unpromotable and a pariah.
He’s not one to exaggerate so I believe every word. They call these guys Salarymen.

My English Lit teacher in high school used to go in the student bathroom and write Shakespeare quotes in the stalls. I thought he was such an old fart. He was way younger than I am now.

This right here. If you aren't in what looks like an interrogation room, sitting at an industrial table in a government spec folding metal chair with a Phd across from you asking you questions and having you perform weird tasks, you aren't taking a real IQ test. There were written portions, lots of showing me pictures and then asking me questions about them, I also remember where they would show me a shape and then have me reproduce that shape from a selection of odd shapes on the table. Weird shite like that.
I had a couple done as a youngster as part of some university study and it was a memorable event. I now wonder what kind of information is in a file somewhere in some government warehouse about my proclivities.
Apparently I did pretty well, I qualified for a special program where they bussed us across town a couple of days a week to attend special classes. Or maybe it was Special Ed. Hell, I don't know. The bus was short.

Answer me this then. Put yourself in that situation. How close do you let that guy get before you do something? He was two feet away from the agent when he pushed him back. Once someone invades your space, you have to do something.
These "protestors" know what they are doing. They are specifically looking for an altercation and they agitate until they get one and then play the victim. Every reasonable person knows that if you go up to a cop (or a random person on the street for that matter) and start screaming at them and get in their face - something is going to happen.
So I ask again "How would a WELL-TRAINED NON-MEATHEAD have handled that situation?"

I stopped by a NRA convention in Dallas once to meet a client who was in town for that event. Outside were 50-60 people protesting guns. I stood and listented to some of their bullhorn speeches for a minute until it was time for my meeting. Didn't think much of it until that evening when I turned on local news in my hotel and the coverage made it look like a giant protest. I was actually stunned at how they covered it. The camera got in really tight and it looked like a huge and relatively active protest. In reality, they were all pretty dull and kind of standing around as if... they were being paid to be there.
Have a ME in the family. Someone will ask him a potentially technical question and he will start a 75 minute dissertation if you don't stop him.

Not an OT worthy response because it’s a real answer. I had this exact problem. I put old school mouse traps all over my car hood roof and trunk for about a week. Nothing for four days. On the fifth morning I come out and all the ones on the hood had been activated and were spread around the driveway. That cat never went near my car again.
