What do you do when the baby’s umbilical cord is wrapped around its neck, the patient needs an emergency C-section, or is hemorrhaging uncontrollably?
You providing all the care then? Don’t be so naive. It’s easy to call shots when they don’t matter, but you wouldn’t know because you’ve never had to make real life changing decisions that are all on you

They reduce the cord or deliver towards the thigh...both things I’ve done because the physician didn’t show up.

Who do you think is monitoring the fetus to know there is a complication? It isn’t the physician.

The nurse is typically the one that realizes this and massages the fundus and administers meds to stop it.
I’m not saying the have no role but most of the care and assessment is provided by the nurse.
