It is growing too much tho I read one projection that had Atl, Birmingham, and Greenville as a major combined city.

The big city that gives amazon the most in incentives and credits will get the development. Easy as that.
And even then, when discussing costs (salaries, rent, construction, utilities, basic cost of living, etc.) some of the places (Columbus, Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville, Atlanta, etc.) are 60 to 70 percent the cost of some of the other places (DC, Boston, etc). With 50,000 jobs, and apparently high paying ones at that, they could possibly pay 10s of thousands less for each salary on average and those salaries could still have more value for an employee. That would save hundreds of millions, if not billions, per year on salary costs alone.

if this thing gets built in Cbus, for example, the cost of living is going to rise

Good idea. Let's become Detroit with no growth!
Not infiltrating our city with thousands more carpetbaggers and west coast weirdos is not the same thing as losing all of our current jobs and being poor.

I understand the needs and qualifications a city must have for the Amazon plant. It isn't going to happen, but I think it would be cool and prefer it if Bezos to pick a city in dire need of revitalization. A city that has seen better days.

TCU (40 mins), Baylor (1 hour 45 mins), Oklahoma (3 hours), and Oklahoma State (4 hours) also not too far away.

Not sure if mentioned but I'm pretty sure they just opened a facility in the outer suburbs of Denver.

if amazon has half a brain, it will be tx, nc, or tn.

Hypothetical, if Memphis were to get it, it would regain its spot as the "it city" in TN, right?

I agree.
Cleveland, Buffalo, or Detroit could really use the help. Detroit has a great airport and is actually a decent draw from very competitive schools all over the midwest.

Seriously, why?

New Orleans or Shreveport would be perfect for Amazon.

Memphis is a lot more competitive economically than people give it credit for. FedEx has a massive, sprawling tech campus in Collierville. I imagine it isn't unlike whatever Amazon will end up building.
Their airport has a lot of excess capacity too, and the costs of living in that area is probably the lowest of any metro area its size in the country.

Memphis has a third world passenger airport though

They have plenty of "facilities" in small and big cities across the US mostly just meaning distribution centers. Dallas also has one. I think it is in Richardson. Basically if you have the option for Amazon Prime Instant, there is a facility near you.

why not? pro-business, booming population, highly educated and skilled workforce, desirable places to live
