My oldest plays high school baseball and they really push volunteerism.
They buy books and read them to a poorer inner city elementary school. They build a friendship with the kids.
He also volunteers at a miracle league.

They were Scouts so we've done all kinds of volunteer work.
Outside of that we worked in our local animal shelter.
We also took them to a few RAM (Remote Area Medical) events (wife is a nurse, no pics). That was an eye opener for them.
