Audi R8. Comfortable, reliable, avg 16mpg for a car that goes 0-60 in ~3secs isn't bad either.

My 2009 911 Carrera (997) is comfortable as a daily driver. That being said, I'm retired so I don't drive as much as I used to on a daily basis. But I have found it comfortable on long drives. And I only take it places where I know there is enough available parking space that I can park at least 50 yards away from the nearest car or grocery buggy.
ETA: It is worth having just for doing track days at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Yes but don't try to haul wood from Home Depot in it.

I always liked the classic targas, but this latest iteration is the best looking Carrera ever.

Just get a new Corvette. And an old Nissan pick up and rive the truck 4 days of the week and the Vette the other 3.

It's cheaper, a good bit faster (unless you get up in the higher end 911s), much sexier, and can be serviced without mortgaging your home.

Would have strongly considered it - they over-Camaroed the back end of the new one.

Dealbreaker - I like everything else about it.

What's folks' opinions on the new Porsche Macan? Looks pretty damn sexy and is fairly spry as well.

Its hard to break the Vette habit; every one I've had has been rock-solid.

Those new Targa's are classic, though.

Chevy has really come a long way from the hanger queens they used to make 30 to 40 years ago. Chevy and reliability aren't exactly synonymous, either - I was really excited about the new generation...until I got a look at the back end of one in the wild - at first the pictures only looked a little Camaroish - I was concerned, but after seeing one -

Now, dropping about 140k on a Targa 4S might be something that I balk at as well, but if money were no object, I think that would be my next car.

Even the '96 I had was a solid car, but squeaky once it got about 40K on it. C5 on, no issues.

The Porsche is a steep upgrade in price, but I think the fit and finish will be better.

I absolutely will test drive it w/o the top. It better not have a hint of cowl shake.

Ace Midnight What is your daily driver, then? I'm looking at the new Targa -

Great looking car, the complexity of the operation of the top to save owner the inhumanity of actually pulling off a center panel is daunting. Great car, under 50 to 60 miles a day 911 is fine.

It's fast as hell, but for the Turbo you're looking at $80k+ for a small crossover. I'll wait until they're a bargain, CPO.

OP: my friend had an '07 997 Carrera 4 that he drove daily with very few problems.

BUT...the Macan S is also a Turbo and will do 0-60 in 5.0 seconds. That is pretty damn fast, and it can be had in the low $50K range. I tried to get my wife to look at them while we were in Atlanta last week, but she wasn't interested.

I drive a Boxster, and have it on good authority from my mechanic who's been servicing Porsches for 30+ years, that using them as daily drivers is actually preferable! It's a very reliable machine that was designed to be used...most of the problems experienced in low mileage models are due to they're sitting up unused. Especially within the drivetrain, and bearings in which lubrication is achieved only while driving - if the car sits idle too long rust is prone to develop leading to premature wear.
