They test them every first Wednesday of the month. You can definitely hear them downtown.
We test the ones at Exxon at noon on Wednesdays and they're very loud and sound like the air raid sirens. I thought the big ones in North BR were installed when they built River Bend and were the sirens in case something happened there.
ETA: yeah, those are the River Bend sirens being tested on the first Wednesday of the month.

Me too! Sounded like someone throwing rocks at my windows earlier. Freaking wind was blowing like a hurricane. I wish it would storm quietly

I guess I've been hearing the wrong thing. Someone said that warning system is for Exxon.

To try to sleep during the calm or not.
I've investigated the "train sound" I posted earlier and discovered it's a distant generator. False alarm. Told y'all I was paranoid.

Glad to hear it wasn't a tornado

Let's hope it stays south of NI!

First time I heard those sirens I was making a home health visit and asked the patient if we should maybe get ready to leave.

According to my parents. They said the train sound is real and you'll know it when it happens. Basically said imagine laying down 3 feet from a freight train going 60mph and that what it sounds like

VALID 070449Z - 070615Z
THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 65 CONTINUES.

Are you talking about hailstorm that was in Prairieville about a month ago?
That storm freaked me out. I thought a tornado had landed.

You were right. Exxon's is every Wednesday. The River Bend sirens are the first Wednesday of the month so that could be what you hear.

Is there a tornado siren on I-12 between Millerville and Sherwood? It's on a tower and the speaker (it looks like a speaker) has a lightning bolt on it.
