Mine will be 15 next month and it’s lights out at 11:20. He gets up for high school at 8:20 every morning

Mine is close in age but I'm in bed before 11:20 so I don't know how late she stays up. I figure it will catch up with her eventually. She's at school around 7:10am though.

My twins are 11. They go to bed around 9:30 on school nights. Weekend is a bit later.

7 and 5. We are a 7:30 - 8 pm family. We try to start around 7:20 or so because by the time you do pajamas, brushing teeth, reading books, tucking in, it’s 8:00.

On the weekends they might stay up till 9 but it’s rare.

Compare that with my sisters kids who don’t even start getting to bed until 9:30. Not my cup of tea but they seem to make it work.

Why did some of y’all frickers even have kids?? Making them go to be by 7:30. shite, we still eating dinner at 7:30 most week nights. You are basically not spending any quality time with them on the weekdays after you factor in homework, dinner, bath, etc.

9 year old - 9:30 on weeknights (does fine the next day). IDGAF on weekends unless he has something going on the next day

4 year old - 8:30-9 on weeknights. He Usually crashes around 10 -10:30 on weekends. We have to Melatoninize this one on weeknights though.

1.5 year old - she’s a shite sleeper, but usually around 8:30

Where were these late riser high schools when I was attending? Sheesh.

Agree completely. My high school 1st bell was 7:10 am.

Frisco, TX does this right. Elementary school begins at 7:20, Middle school begins at 8:20 and High school begins at 9:00. Breaks up carpool traffic and let’s the older kids sleep later.

13 year old is 9:30
7 year old is 8:30/45

Weekend: rules do not apply. They know church is at 9am on Sunday and the better be awake and alert

Found that guy. You know, the one that every parent hates…my kids are about 2 years old, they scream like banshees if you keep them up late enough. Some quality family time for ya…

Lol! What is there to hate? We have nights that we won’t get back from a practice until after 8 and still haven’t eaten dinner.

I’m not really referring to 2 year olds. Anything younger than 4 is a pain in the arse if they aren’t good sleepers. I’ve got one now. But once they grow out of that phase, they’re fun as hell! My kids are awesome. So I personally like hanging out with them as much as I can.

Uh. I don't hate him. I agree with him. He's not talking about 2 yr olds. But with kids from 1st-6th grade, it's my opinion you roll with how each kid responds. Enforcing arbitrary bedtimes and routines is frickin stupid, selfish, and has ZERO positive impact on the child's development.

Nothing about this makes any sense.

You can't tell a 15 yr old when to go to bed. And what fricking High School has 1st hour at 9:20 am?

I have 5 kids. All started with a firm 7:30 bed time during the school year. That’s without various extracurricular activities. That lasts until 10 then it gets bumped to 8-8:30. That’s what it stays at until high school. Weekends are more forgiving but we still aim for 8’ish for the younger ones. My oldest son, who just turned 21, is still in bed relatively early so he can get up early.

3 year old girl… 8-830 is when she starts winding down. This chick also likes to roll out of bed full throttle at 5am no matter what time you put her in bed. She’s a morning person like me and it drives her mother nuts, i love it lol.

Seriously, do you really believe your strict routine had any effect on his biological clock and sleep cycles at 21 yrs old?

My kids are under 7. Bedtime is 8pm. Occasionally but not often it’s stretched to 8:30. If the kids stay up late there no time mom/dad to be together.

Ours are in bed by 8-830 on school nights. Usually later but inconsistent on weekends. Ages 7, 5, and nearly 4.

3 girls. 6, 4 and 6 months. On school nights they are asleep between 8 and 9. I don’t get home from work until 6:30 to 7 most nights.

Weekends 9-9:30.

It works for us

13 and 15 year old boys, 10pm weeknight, whenever for weekends. School doesn't start until 8:30am and after JROTC and soccer practice they don't get home until 7pm. Both have excellent grades and the 13 year old gets up with me at 3am to go fishing every other Saturday.
